Whether you’re hosting a soiree or have been itching to pick up a new hobby, learning to whip up some delicious cocktails is a skill that can never go to waste. It may even become your new party trick!

Here are 5 cocktails that only need 3 ingredients to taste as good as they do. Keep reading to see them all or skip ahead to the spirit of your choice.

Vodka

Because vodka is a lot more subtle than most other spirits, it’s easy to experiment and create some surprising concoctions.

This Citrus Berry cocktail from Happy Food Happy Life can be made by the glass, so you don’t need to go up against guesstimating measurements for your whole group.

All you need is:

1.       Half a cup of mixed berries

2.       1 ounce of vodka

3.       Lemon lime soda

How do you do it? Mash your berries in the bottom of your glass, add your vodka, and top off your glass with lemon lime soda.

Liqueur

If you love a liqueur, you probably stick to sipping it neat or on the rocks. A 3-ingredient liqueur cocktail that’s easy to put a spin on is the indomitable Kir Royale.

There are several variations you can try on for size, but a basic Kir Royale will need:

1.       Half an ounce of creme de cassis

2.       Sparkling wine or dry champagne

3.       A frozen or fresh berry of your choice

This one is as easy as it gets! Simply pour your creme de cassis into a champagne flute, top it off with chilled champagne or wine and garnish your drink with a berry.

You can shake things up by using blackberries, raspberries, or even a lemon twist as your garnish.

Rum

If you have a bottle of rum knocking about in your cabinet and have no idea what to do with it, try whipping up some Cuba Libres.

Here’s everything you need for this rum cocktail, but keep in mind that the success of your Cuba Libre is all in the way you make it.

1.       1 ounce of rum

2.       3 ounces of Coca-Cola

3.       Half a lime

Cuba Libres also need a secret fourth ingredient, which is lots of ice so make sure you have that on hand before you begin.

First, fill your glass with ice. Then, squeeze your lime over the ice until your ice is coated in lime juice, and drop the lime into the glass. Finally, pour in your rum, and top it off with your Coca-Cola. Stir it gently and voila!

Whiskey

If you’re a whiskey fanatic, stir up an homage to one of the oldest cocktails, the always popular Manhattan. The origins of this drink remain foggy but stretch back to the 1800s.

While the story of how it came to be is lost to time, the recipe for a perfect Manhattan is alive, well, and as easy as ever.

You need:

1.       2 ounces of rye or bourbon

2.       1 ounce of sweet vermouth

3.       1 or 2 dashes of bitters

Add all the ingredients listed above into a mixing glass with lots of ice and stir it well. Strain the concoction into a chilled drinking glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry or lemon twist to serve.

Tequila

If tequila is your spirit of choice then a fruity Paloma may be right up your alley!

The Spruce Eats Paloma recipe just needs:

1.       2 ounces of tequila

2.       A quarter or half an ounce of lime juice

3.       4 ounces of grapefruit soda

You can start by adding a rim of salt to your glass or just skip that step and fill your glass with ice. Add the tequila and lime juice, top it off with grapefruit soda and your Paloma is ready to go.
