Now that the warmer weather is setting in we need a new makeup look to take over from our cold weather matte looks. Dewy makeup gives you that lit from within healthy glow with skin that looks hydrated and plump without looking oily. This is perfect for the warm weather where we want to look sunkissed, let us show you how to get it.

Prep! Prep! Prep!

A good makeup day truly starts with a good skincare prep routine so ensure you have a routine that works for you in place. Skincare with hyaluronic acid or squalane is a good place to start as this is a hydrating ingredient that can be found in a variety of serums. Make sure you moisturize and put on your sunscreen before locking this moisture in with a hydrating finishing spray.

Base

You can go for a very light base with a tinted moisturizer that will give little coverage letting your skin shine through or you can mix your foundation with a moisturizer or oil. This will make your foundation a bit thinner and add a wet look to it. You can do this with your concealer as well if you want a lighter coverage or you can apply a small amount to work into the skin. Press this into your skin with a damp sponge for it to emulate skin as closely as possible.

Cheeks

For a natural flush, we recommend going with a cream or liquid blush softly spread across your nose and cheeks for a sunkissed look with a natural finish. Similarly, a liquid or cream highlighter with less sparkle and closer to your skin tone will appear more natural on and dewy.  Contour or bronze with a cream or liquid and blend out with a fluffy brush to not disrupt your foundation.

Lips

Your lips are going to be very natural to let your skin shine through. We recommend a shade close to your natural lip color and to fill in your lips with a lip liner or pencil and swipe some gloss over the top for a natural, soft look.

Final Details

To complete this look, we recommend taking a powder puff in a thin translucent powder and pressing this into the areas where your foundation moves the most. For most people this is under the eyes, around the nose and mouth and forehead. Try and minimize powdering to keep that sunkissed, dewy look as we do not want to mattify too much. As a last step, you can spritz your face with a hydrating spray again however be conscious to be sparing.
