Ahh date night, a tried-and-true tradition for all those who have been lucky enough to nab their dream partner. While there’s nothing wrong with the classic dinner and movie date, sometimes you want to trade this out for a more relaxed and lowkey date at home. Because who doesn’t love the idea of being romantic while also being able to wear sweatpants and not having to travel home at the end of the night?

Cook

Pick a recipe that you both like the sound of and cook together. This is a good bonding experience and can really help with your communication, time management and teamwork plus you get something tasty to eat at the end so everybody wins! You can also make some fancy cocktails to complement your meal.

Puzzle Time

Pick up a puzzle that you like the look of – the more complex the better in our opinion and try and put it together over wine and dinner instead of watching a movie. Puzzles are great mental stimulation, and you can do them again and again.

Play Detective

Grab a pen and notebook and put on a true crime documentary that neither of you have seen and start playing detective. Write down clues, theorise and argue your case with each other until you find out who the perpetrator was.

Go To War!

Nerf war that is! Who says that adults can’t enjoy nerf? Make some obstacles and fortify your stronghold for the impending clash and get ready to face off! This is made doubly fun if you have a few wines beforehand.

Lego

Lego is a great way to connect with your inner child and build something cool with your partner. You can find sets to build ranging from bouquets of flowers to the Harry Potter castle and everything in between. Work together to create something cool and either take it apart to do again or make it part of your house décor!

Write Bucket Lists

Get together and write down all the experiences you want to have on your bucket lists and compare. This can be a great way to start planning future trips, talk over the lists, connect about something important and get to know your partner on a deeper level.

Trivia

Gather some online trivia questions for you to answer and compete! Pick special subjects for both of you for the sudden death rounds or answer questions about your relationship to heighten the stakes and whoever wins gets the larger portion of dessert!

Movie Night

A twist on the classic date night, make a big fort in the loungeroom or in your bedroom and throw together a charcuterie board for you and your babe to enjoy while watching your favourite movies or take the plunge and put on a new release for you both. Snack and be comfortable while you watch and don’t worry about falling asleep because you’re already home!
