We all want to put our best face forward every day and who doesn’t love doing that with the perfect ‘glow-from-within’ look? Glowing skin can boost your confidence to another level and is always the best accessory for any event you may be attending, whether its a normal work day or a VIP event.

Here are just some of our top skin hacks you need to check out:

Self-Care
for Skin

Glowing skin truly does come from within, which requires you to introduce healthy habits in your everyday life. Drinking enough water is one of the most important. Hydrated skin appears brighter and plumper, whereas dehydrated skin can show fine lines and appear dull.

Sleep also has a big influence on your skin and lack of sleep can affect the appearance of your skin drastically, so it is recommended you get at least 6-8 hours of sleep a night! By giving yourself that rest time, your skin has time to regenerate and repair any blemishes. You can also opt for silk pillowcases as silk helps reduce appearance of blemishes and reduces the amount of irritation on the skin during sleep. Silk also holds less dirt than cotton, which is ideal for your skin.

Get Your Base Right

The best way to ensure you have a glowing look is to perfect your base routine, including skincare and makeup products that will help you achieved the desired result. Try to have freshly cleansed and exfoliated skin when you layer on your skincare routine. Then, continuing to work on your base, you may want to use a mist or toner, a moisturising serum, moisturiser, and sunscreen to ensure your skin is prepped and ready for the day.

Let your products settle into your skin before taking a liquid highlighter and mixing a few drops into your foundation. You can also add these into your moisturiser or tinted moisturiser if you prefer a fresh-faced look! We would avoid powdering too heavily on the face except around the eyes and mouth where creasing may occur, as this may dull your skin further, especially if you already suffer from dry skin.

You
Are What You Eat

Our diet affects us from the inside out and you can improve your skin by including or introducing the following foods that are proven to be beneficial for glowing skin. A variety of spices have been proven to help promote healthy, glowing skin, such as turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. Try incorporating these into your cooking, whether its meal-prep for lunch or your evening dinners.

Bone broths are known to be great for your skin due to the content of collagen in them that helps to brighten your skin and fight the signs of ageing. Who doesn’t love a good pho or hearty chicken soup, right? Foods such as salmon, berries, tuna and avocado are also great for your skin as they have healthy fats, anti-oxidants and omega 3 in them.

Routine! Routine! Routine!

Your skin will respond in the best way when you have correctly identified your skin type and you have consistency in your routine. Make sure you have your products lined up and ready every morning and evening, ideally somewhere visible to remind you. Additionally, slugging  is a popular way to heighten the amount of hydration your skin takes in at night when it does most of its repairing and regenerating. Basically, it’s the act of slathering your face with an occlusive product as the last step in your skincare routine. When it comes to slugging, we do encourage your research to make sure you’re choosing the right products and are taking the right steps!
