Top 5 Family-Friendly Summer Activities

With warmer weather all around there is a wide range of activities you and your family can do together for some all-important bonding time. While we know that it can be hard to find something to suit everyone, we think we have found a selection that can work for most families. Check out these five fun ideas below:

Animal Sanctuary

For those of you that love furry friends or cute critters then a trip to the animal sanctuary is a perfect choice for a family outing. Not only do interactions with animals help with lowering stress levels but most sanctuaries will have talks about the animals in their care providing educational information making it a learning experience as well. There is also the added bonus that you can find specialised sanctuaries that have primarily barnyard animals, reptiles, etc if you or your family have a specific interest.

Waterpark

Who doesn’t love to go for a splash in the summer? There are not many better ways to cool off or have fun in the sun than going to a water park. Water parks generally have something for everyone from the lazy river rides to wave pools and slides for those who are a bit adventurous. This outing is sure to burn off some energy and win you some cool points with the kids.

Museum

Museums don’t always have to be boring! Museums have several exciting exhibitions come through a year ranging from Ancient Egypt, dinosaurs, creatures of the deep and many more depending on your location. You can find out about upcoming exhibitions or events that pique your family’s interest on your local museums website and organise a day out for education and interactive experiences that your kids will love.

Painting Class

We all like to get a little messy sometimes and kids are inevitably a bit messy, so why not lean into it and let them express themselves freely at a painting class where mess is a part of the experience? Painting can be fun and can relax your mind while allowing you and your family to show off your artistic side which we can forget to indulge as we get older so put on your smock and get your brushes ready!

Hike & Picnic

The beauty of this activity is that you can customise it to your liking. You can go for a shorter hike if you have little ones and focus on having a nice picnic somewhere pretty or if you have older children, you can make this a longer hike with a destination in mind where you can set up and enjoy the views for a day. Getting out in nature is good for the body and mind and it is always more fun to do physical activities with people you love. Look up some local trails and choose the difficulty you think is appropriate for you and prepare your picnic to set off on the scenic route.

We hope you have been able to find some inspiration for your next family fun day from our list. Which activity would you like to do most? Let us know in the comments!
